Anstice & Co

Anstice & Co were mineral water manufacturers operating from Frankfort Lane, Plymouth. They were trading from 1878 until around 1915, although judging by the scarcity of their bottles in excavated dumps they were not large volume producers. The company appears to have taken over the operations of William Henry Gruzilier in 1878.

Most sought after amongst their recovered bottles are the stoneware ginger beer bottles, this is mainly due to their rarity rather than any aesthetic quality (the bottle is a plain and unassuming example). The 6oz capacity Hamilton is commonly found but less so are the 10oz versions and skittle.
