Basker & Co

Seemingly, a Welsh import to the area, Basker & Co operated from Cardiff, Bridgewater and Plymouth (actually Union Place, Stonehouse) in around 1893.

In 1895 the same address is assumed by Vincent Elliott, whose early bottles bear the legend Elliott late Basker & Co.

The Basker & Co bottles found are generally either stoneware ginger beers or Codd type bottles, the transfer or embossing varies depending whether the address accentuated is Plymouth, Cardiff or Bridgewater. Some of the company’s ginger beer bottles have actually been recovered from archaeological excavations in Australia along with other UK bottles.
