Collier

There are 2 listed companies using the Collier name in Plymouth in the 19th and early part of the 20th century, in fact, confusingly, both are parts of the same company.

Firstly, Collier & Co operated from various premises in Plymouth between 1844 or earlier and 1940.

Secondly, Colliers Stores (late Wills & Co) operated from premises in George Street, Plymouth between 1912 and 1923

Bottles from either company are a rare find with the Collier & Co stoneware ginger beers being especially sought after, three variations of which are currently known. Some green glass beer bottles carry the company’s details as Plymouth, Portsmouth, Torquay & Malta.
