Furguson

Yet another large player in the local industry was James Henry Furguson, who initially operated from premises in North St, Plymouth before moving in 1897 to their more familiar address of King Gardens, Plymouth. The company operated from the King Gardens address until the late 1970s, the premises eventually being demolished to make way for the new Pilgrim Primary School.

The company used a wide variety of bottles throughout its life, the best known of these probably being the blue transfer ginger beer bottles (oddly the blue transfer versions seem to be far more common than the black versions). A large number of ginger beer bottle variations are found as are variations in embossing of glass bottles. Codd bottles of the Reliance patent bearing the North Street address have been recovered but are rare finds.
