Hawker

James Hawker & Co operated from premises in Bretonside, Plymouth from around 1808 up until the 1980s. Their premises are still identifiable today and were in use for so long that they stand at the corner of Hawkers Avenue.

Many of the company’s bottles do not carry their name but are embossed with their “Pedlar Brand” trade mark. The bottles recovered include various sherry type bottles featuring embossed seal with Pedlar Brand design and rather impressive pictorial beer bottles.
