Nicholls
This is another name used by more than one
company within the three towns during the period we are dealing with.
F.J.W Nicholls operated from premises in Drake
Street, Plymouth but little detail is known about the company. This may, in
part, be due to the company’s wide variety of business areas leading to adverts
not specifying that they were also wine & spirit merchants (a similar
problem occurs with many small companies that had other primary businesses)
W. Nicholls operated from Frederick Street,
Morice Town from around 1880 – 1888.
Bottles of any type from either company are
scarce finds, FJW Nicholls bottles are usually olive green internal screw glass
beers.
