Plymouth Co-operative Society

Based at premises in Treville Street, Plymouth the Society had a long working life in this field, bottles found include aqua glass mineral bottles embossed PCS Ltd Plymouth and the rare champagne shaped stoneware ginger beer (which seems to have been in use until the 1940s judging by fragments found amongst blitz rubble in dump sites). Most eye catching is probably the purple topped foot warmer bearing the company’s details.

The Treville Street premises have long since disappeared during development of the area to create Bretonside Bus Station.

The company was also involved with prescription chemists which are listed separately in the chemist section
