Popplestone

 

Popplestones are first recorded operating as brewers agents from premises in Plymouth in around 1878, possibly as agents for Guinness products.

 

Following World War II, the company opened an off licence within the new development in Old Town Street. Indeed, it would also appear that the company took over the operations and trading name of Picken & Co in addition to their own.

 

Bottles found are dark coloured glass beer bottles of various types. A champagne shape stoneware ginger beer bottle was also issued but is a rare find
