Western Aerated Water Company

A fairly late starter, this company is listed as operating from 1910 until 1953, premises used were in Hoegate Place, Plymouth.

Their stoneware ginger beer bottles are scarce with the swing stoppered green top version being highly sought after. This bottle also has the distinction of being the only green top not from Sawrey Street! The current scarcity of these bottles may be due to their relatively late date, many of the dump sites used at that time have been used until very recently so are inaccessible to diggers, indeed, a number of the green topped version were recovered during major construction works on the remaining section of Weston Mill landfill site. Other bottles found include skittle and other glass minerals with crown cap closures. The crown caps themselves featured a pictorial trade mark of the Hoe Gate sadly this does not appear on the bottles themselves.
